Established in 1980, the Institute of Personnel Management (IPM), Bangladesh is the premier and oldest professional body dedicated to the advancement of Human Resource Management (HRM) in the country. Registered as a non-profit organization under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Registration No. S-1353(37)/90), IPM is formally recognized by the Ministry of Commerce and the Office of the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms, Government of Bangladesh.
Since its inception, IPM has been at the forefront of shaping the HRM profession in Bangladesh. As a pioneer in HR education and development, IPM has been offering the Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM) program, contributing significantly to the capacity building of skilled, competent, and future-focused HR professionals. Additionally, the Institute offers the Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Laws and Industrial Relations (PGDLLIR), reinforcing its academic and professional relevance.
Today, thousands of IPM alumni are serving in senior leadership roles across national and multinational corporations, both within Bangladesh and abroad, demonstrating the Institute’s lasting impact and credibility.
As the country’s leading HR institution, IPM is deeply committed to promoting excellence in human resource practices through its comprehensive training programs and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) initiatives designed for its members. It is also a proud founding member of the Federation of Bangladesh Human Resource Organizations (FBHRO), reflecting its leadership and collaborative approach in fostering a robust HR ecosystem.
IPM remains steadfast in its mission to develop ethical, visionary, and highly skilled HR leaders who are equipped to meet the evolving challenges of the modern workplace and contribute meaningfully to national development.
While many HR organizations in Bangladesh are chapters of international bodies such as SHRM or HRCI, the Institute of Personnel Management (IPM) is a home-grown initiative. It is the first and only indigenous professional HR body focused exclusively on the unique needs and challenges of the Bangladeshi workforce and economy.
This formal recognition gives IPM Bangladesh an advisory role in shaping labor policies and human resource development at the national leve-an advantage that most other HR organizations in Bangladesh do not possess.
This cross-sector approach provides IPM with a wider perspective and greater influence than many industry-specific HR groups.
Unlike many international and national HR organizations that function more like businesses and charge high membership or certification fees, IPM operates as a non-profit with a developmental mission.
IPM continuously hosts national and international events such as summits, CPD (Continuing Professional Development), workshops, day-long training sessions, seminars, roundtable discussions, and celebrations of national and international days.
These events focus on strategic HR challenges that are specific to Bangladesh and South Asia, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach to global issues.
To build up capable management professionals and institutional leaders for proactive human resource development and to serve for the interest of the nation.

To promote, develop and regulate the profession of Human Resources Management and other allied fields related thereto and to impart training and education for professional competence by maintaining highest professional standard for contributing to establishment of corporate HR practices in all kinds of organizations for good governance and organizational success.
